
National Campaign Earns Recognition: What’s Next for We’re Your Pharmacist

I am delighted to share that ASHP’s national public awareness campaign, We’re Your Pharmacist, has been recognized as a finalist in the Awards of Distinction: Nonprofit Communications Campaign of the Year category by PR Daily in its 2025 Nonprofit Communications Awards.
A national organization of award-winning journalists and communicators, PR Daily supports marketing and communications professionals by delivering relevant insights and fostering continuing education and career advancement.
ASHP is a finalist among a number of other organizations for this prestigious award, which recognizes mission-focused campaigns that create impact through powerful storytelling. Other finalists include AARP, Advocate Health, Conservation International, and The Dairy Alliance.
Winners in each category will be announced Sept. 26.
This well-earned recognition celebrates the powerful individual stories at the heart of We’re Your Pharmacist — stories that bring visibility to the depth and breadth of pharmacy practice in all specialties and settings. Two of the campaign’s recent podcasts feature patients talking about life-altering encounters with their pharmacists. I encourage you to listen to these stories at yourpharmacist.org.
The We’re Your Pharmacist campaign wants to inspire the next generation of pharmacists, and we’re off to a great start.
In June, ASHP exhibited at the HOSA International Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. At this event, attended by more than 14,000 middle- and high-school students, ASHP staff interacted with students, parents, and student advisors, broadening their perspective about what a career in pharmacy can be. We look forward to deepening our local and national engagement with HOSA.
Earlier this month, ASHP also attended the annual American School Counselors Association meeting, where we shared pharmacy school and career planning resources with an eager audience of several thousand middle- and high-school guidance counselors.
Those meetings told us a lot about what students and counselors know, and don’t know, about pharmacy practice. In short, if we want a strong pharmacy pipeline, we need to show students, their families, and their advisers how pharmacy careers align with students’ interests and skills.
To draw students to pharmacy school and to careers in hospital and health-system pharmacy, education and information-sharing need to start early. Students who want hands-on clinical careers should know exactly how pharmacists interact with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide direct patient care. Students who love technology should see how automation and artificial intelligence are transforming pharmacy practice. Students with a passion for chemistry should understand they can apply that knowledge as clinicians, researchers, regulators, and in industry.
As we embark on year two of We're Your Pharmacist, we will tackle this challenge head-on by expanding our digital marketing campaign, creating tools and resources for educating and influencing students, and through partnerships at both the local and national levels.
