In this podcast, Dr. Wendy St. Peter and Dr. Katie Cardone discuss the AJHP theme issue on the management of chronic kidney disease with host and AJHP Editor in Chief Dr. Daniel Cobaugh.
SPEAKERS
Wendy St. Peter, Pharm.D., FCCP, FASN, FNKF is a professor at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy. Her career has focused on improving medication management in patients with kidney disease. She is currently co-leading an NKF initiative to educate and disseminate information on using non-race-based eGFR for medication decisions. Dr. St. Peter is also leading a national initiative, Advancing Kidney Health through Optimal Medication Management, and is one of the guest editors of the chronic kidney disease theme issue in AJHP.
Katie Cardone, Pharm.D., BCACP, FNKF, FASN, FCCP is an associate professor and chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Dr. Cardone’s clinical practice and research program are focused on improving care in patients with kidney disease in outpatient nephrology and dialysis. She co-led the publication of pharmacy practice standards for pharmacists caring for people with kidney disease and is a member of the Board of Pharmacy Specialties Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Council.
Daniel J. Cobaugh, Pharm.D., FAACT, DABAT is the senior vice president of professional development and publishing at ASHP and the editor-in-chief of AJHP. He has served on the ASHP staff since 2002. He received his B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Pittsburgh and his Doctor of Pharmacy from Duquesne University. Cobaugh completed an ASHP-accredited residency in hospital pharmacy at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh and a clinical toxicology fellowship at the Pittsburgh Poison Center. He practiced as pharmacist-clinical toxicologist and held faculty appointments at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the University of Rochester Medical Center.
