The COVID-19 pandemic accentuated longstanding workforce issues and perpetuated a need for change. Burnout and well-being became a greater focus around the world but especially for healthcare workers. We will share ways in which leadership styles and focuses have changed since our teams have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

SPEAKERS

Jordan Dow Jordan Dow serves as vice president and chief pharmacy officer for Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin. Jordan completed his didactic education and residency training at the University of Wisconsin. He has held progressive pharmacy leadership roles in multiple integrated delivery networks during his career. Jordan is an active leader within ASHP, Vizient, PSW and ACHE. In his free time, Jordan enjoys playing sports and spending time with his wife and two daughters. 

Chad SmithChad Smith, PharmD, MBA, BCSP, BCSCP (he/him) is the area vice president of pharmacy operations for Aurora Health Care where he has worked for 15 years. Chad’s responsibilities focus on operations support for Aurora’s 17 Wisconsin hospitals as well as multi-state strategic responsibilities for investigational drug services and student/residency programs. Chad resides in Brookfield, Wisconsin, with his wife and four children. 

Katherine DeSanctisKatherine DeSanctis, PharmD, MS (she/her/hers) is the director of pharmacy for the home hospital service with Mass General Brigham Healthcare at Home. She oversees initiatives for Home Hospital services and serves as a liaison between clinical and operational leadership for Home Hospital and pharmacy leadership across 5 facilities. Katherine is responsible for projects that support safer systems of care, clinical excellence, and improved outcomes. Prior to this current role, Katherine was the director of pharmacy operations for Massachusetts General Hospital. 

Carmen GustCarmen Gust, PharmD, BCPS, DPLA, 340B ACE (she/her/hers) is the 340B pharmacy manager at ThedaCare Inc. in Wisconsin. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin—Madison and completed pharmacy school at Creighton University. She completed a PGY1 residency at UMass Medical Memorial Medical Center and an HSPAL PGY2 residency at Indiana University Health. Upon completing residency, she moved to Wisconsin to take the role of the system clinical pharmacy coordinator at ThedaCare.
