Prioritizing wellbeing and mental health throughout the stressful season of residency applications and the match process can easily become overlooked. In this podcast, current and past residents will provide advice and tips to help guide current pharmacy students through this season.

SPEAKERS

Katlyn HoltKatlyn Holt, PharmD, BCCP received her PharmD from the University of Michigan. She is a cardiology clinical pharmacy specialist at ProMedica Hospital in Toledo, OH and assistant lecturer at the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy. She completed her PGY1 residency training at Saint Joseph East in Lexington, KY and PGY2 in cardiology at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. She currently serves on the Resident Advancement Advisory Group in ASHP’s New Practitioner Forum.

Steven AstrachanSteven Astrachan, PharmD is the current PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy resident at UVA Health following his PGY1 residency there. He is a 2022 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and has been involved with ASHP serving on his pharmacy school’s SSHP chapter board, Pharmacy Student Forum, and now New Practitioners Forum. When he’s not at home spoiling his cats, Ferb and Mr. Pickles, he enjoys staying active by powerlifting, golfing, and attending sporting events.

Isabel Bonarrigo-BurtonIsabel Bonarrigo-Burton, PharmD is the PGY2 Internal Medicine Pharmacy Resident at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, West Virginia. She attended Ohio Northern University and completed her PGY1 residency at Lima Memorial Health System in Lima, OH. After residency, she plans to work as a clinical pharmacy specialist or a faculty member in a college of pharmacy. Her clinical interests include anticoagulation, heart failure, and infectious diseases.

Anita YangAnita Yang, PharmD is a Cardiorenal Metabolic Risk Reduction Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner at the University of North Carolina Health in Chapel Hill. Dr. Yang received her PharmD at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 and PGY2 in Ambulatory Care at UNC Health. She is passionate about serving patients in her community and supporting future pharmacy leaders.

Tasha RoshanTasha Roshan, PharmD is a current Oncology PGY2 Resident at Advocate Health - Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center. As a Houston native, she completed her PharmD at Texas Southern University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Tasha was heavily involved in student organizations and held multiple leadership positions including serving as an ASHP PSF Residency Preparation Advisory Group member. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, playing piano, and spending time with family.

Abbie IngramAbbie Ingram is a P3 at Auburn University Harrison College of Pharmacy and previously earned her bachelor's in biomedical sciences from Auburn University. Abbie is an ASHP PSF Residency Preparations Advisory Group member and the Auburn Phi Lambda Sigma secretary and Student Ambassadors recruitment coordinator. Abbie works as an intern at a cancer center where she has developed a love for oncology. Her interests outside of education include traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Lauren CaplingLauren Capling is a fourth-year pharmacy student at the University of Kansas. She is passionate about leadership and mental health. She is also currently pursuing a residency in order to build on her clinical knowledge obtained in school. This combination of goals/interests led her to be a part of the ASHP Student Forum Residency Preparation Advisory Group, specifically in the subgroup aiming to address mental health of students during the residency application process.

Alan Linh NguyenAlán Linh Nguyen is a third-year pharmacy student at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Pharmacy (TTUHSC SOP). She served as the Dallas Community Service chair of the TTUHSC SSHP chapter and continues to serve as a co-lead for ASHP's Residency Well-being and Mental Health group in the Pharmacy Student Forum. Her passions lie in pediatrics, mental health, and health-systems administration with interests focusing in the ICU, ED, and ambulatory care settings.

Natalie MauseyNatalie Mausey is a 4th year student pharmacist at Union University College of Pharmacy. As a student pharmacist, Natalie has been actively involved in Union’s ASHP-SSHP by serving as chapter treasurer. She is currently a pharmacy intern at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee. Natalie is passionate about critical care and emergency medicine and plans to pursue residency after graduation.

Alyssa ChingAlyssa Ching was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She graduated from the University of Portland with a Bachelor of Science in ACS certified Chemistry with Biochemistry emphasis, Biology, and Mathematics with a minor in Physics. She is currently attending the University of North Texas Health Science Center as a third year PharmD/MPH dual degree student. Alyssa has a strong interest in clinical healthcare and aspires to make a positive impact in underserved communities.

Stefanie KramerStefanie Kramer is a fourth year PharmD student at Wilkes University, Nesbitt School of Pharmacy. Following involvement in her university’s ASHP chapter, as community outreach chair, she is currently a member of the ASHP PSF Residency Preparations Advisory Group. She plans to pursue a postgraduate residency in acute care and has clinical interests in critical care and oncology. Outside of the pharmacy world, she enjoys skiing, reading, and attending concerts.
