Postgraduate Year Two Pharmacy Residency Training in Advanced Areas of Pharmacy Practice - Competency Areas, Goals, and Objectives (CAGO)
The PGY2 CAGOs are designed to advance the residents’ level of practice beyond PGY1 training, to facilitate additional growth and skillset development, by elevating objectives’ taxonomy levels. Programs develop activities specific to the learning experiences to facilitate the achievement of the objectives. Listed below are the active PGY2 CAGOs for each discipline recognized by ASHP. Some additional resources are available for reference, as workgroups with experts in each practice area develop documents that align with newly revised and approved PGY2 CAGOs. Revisions of the PGY2 CAGOs are ongoing until all PGY2 recognized disciplines have been updated.

Novel Pharmacy Residency Program Recognition Process
For pharmacy residency programs in an area of pharmacy practice for which ASHP has not developed a complete set of CAGOs, organizations must contact the ASHP Accreditation Services Office (ASO) to request a review of a proposal for the recognition of the novel pharmacy residency program. Programs may use the two below resources to learn more about this process.
