Meet Daniel P. O'Neil
Every member of the pharmacy workforce has a responsibility to lead—not only through formal titles, but through improving patient care, influencing and developing others, and driving meaningful advancement across our profession. This belief has guided my involvement in the Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders (SPPL) and my desire to continue serving. I am committed to fostering environments where all pharmacists practice as leaders, as I believe this is fundamental to our profession. This requires intentional investment in people through mentorship, leadership development, and the creation of pathways for innovation and professional growth. Strong teams are built on trust, accountability, and a shared vision for excellence. I believe it is vital to create pathways to leadership for pharmacists of all educational and training backgrounds. As our healthcare environment continues to evolve, we must ensure pharmacists are forward-thinking, adaptable, and collaborative. We must also strengthen our voice within health systems, expand the impact of pharmacy services, and ensure our profession remains integral to patient care. Through continued service in ASHP, my goal is to support the development of current and future leaders, promote innovation in practice models, and advance the role of pharmacy in improving patient outcomes. Together, we can create and shape capable, resilient leaders for our profession.
