Dear Colleagues,
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve as the 2026-2027 Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners (SACP) Executive Committee Chair. It is hard to believe that a little over a year ago I was elected to this position and a few months ago was sworn in at ASHP Pharmacy Futures in St. Louis, Missouri. Throughout this past year as Chair-Elect, I have had the privilege of connecting with many of you at various ASHP events. I look forward to fostering these relationships, developing new connections, and working together to advance ambulatory care pharmacy practice during my year as Chair.
To commence the new Section year, the SACP Executive Committee met with the Section Advisory Group (SAG) Chairs and Vice Chairs to review the updated section structure and charges for the year ahead. During this orientation, we discussed the addition of the Operations and Practice Leadership SAG, redesign of the Educational Steering Committee into the Training Advancement and Workforce Development SAG, and transition of the Pain Management and Palliative Care SAG to a task force. These changes support the needs of our members and advancement of our profession in the ever-evolving landscape of healthcare. I look forward to the collaboration across SAGs and the impactful deliverables that will be developed throughout this year, including those that will shine on at Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition.
SACP is excited to announce that we will be hosting five networking sessions at the 61st ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting in Orlando, Florida this December. These sessions will focus on artificial intelligence, justification and sustainability of ambulatory care pharmacy services, workforce development and innovative training models, pharmacy’s role in population health and value-based care, and how to build connections across pharmacy practice settings. We hope to see you there to celebrate our profession, network, and learn from experts across the country. Opportunities such as these would not be possible without SACP leadership and our member volunteers.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to the 2025-2026 SACP Executive Committee members, Ashley Parrott (Chair), Sara Panella (Immediate Past Chair), Daniel Truelove (Director-at-Large), Jeff Olson (Director-at-Large), and Allison Fay (Director-at-Large-Elect),for their contributions to the Section, ASHP, and our profession. It has been inspiring to work alongside you, learn from you, and witness your passion for pharmacy. I also want to thank Doug Slain (ASHP Board Liaison) and Ashley Boedecker (Director of Member Relations at ASHP) for their unwavering support and guidance.
To the 2025-2026 SACP SAG Chairs, Vice Chairs, and members, I sincerely appreciate your leadership and commitment to the development of educational resources including, FAQ documents, webinars, podcasts, resource guides, roundtable/networking sessions, and surveys for Section and ASHP members. These contributions are truly valued and assist in carrying out SACP’s mission.
As we build upon the Section’s strong leadership foundation, it is my distinct pleasure to welcome Cassie Heffern (Chair-Elect) and Jennifer Reiter (Director-at-Large-Elect) to the SACP Executive Committee. I look forward to the knowledge and innovative perspectives they bring to the Section given their years of experience in the ambulatory care setting.
In closing, I was inspired by Kim Benner’s, ASHP President, inaugural address titled “On Our Way” at ASHP Pharmacy Futures in June. I truly believe we are on our way to a transformational year in ambulatory care pharmacy, and I look forward to collaborating with Section leaders and members to make this vision become a reality!
