Implications for Patient Care

- Calcitriol is commonly used for the treatment of secondary hyperparathyroidism and metabolic bone disease in chronic kidney disease patients both on and off chronic hemodialysis, and hypocalcemia in patients with hypoparathyroidism and pseudohypoparathyroidism.[1]

- Dosing is expressed in micrograms (mcg; not milligrams (mg))[1]
