Current ASHP Involvement: Resident Advancement (RAAG)

Reason for ASHP involvement: I first became involved with ASHP through my local student chapter at the beginning of pharmacy school. I was drawn to the opportunity to be part of a national organization dedicated to advancing health-system pharmacy. Through ASHP, I found a platform to explore my interests in this field and access valuable resources, mentorship, and professional development opportunities that have helped shape my career goals.

Value of ASHP for Peers or Colleagues: ASHP and the New Practitioners Forum have provided me with valuable opportunities to connect with pharmacists from across the country. Collaborating with peers who are at a similar stage in their careers has been both motivating and enriching. Additionally, the forum offers a meaningful medium to support and mentor the next generation of new practitioners.

Professional Interests and Passions: I am currently completing my PGY1 residency and have enjoyed every practice area we've experienced this far. However, I have developed a passion for outpatient oncology pharmacy, stemming from my time as an intern at a local cancer center while completing my pharmacy coursework. I found great fulfillment not only in the complexity of the science and medicine involved, but also in building meaningful connections with the patients I had the privilege to care for.

Advice for other New Practitioners: I encourage new practitioners to explore a variety of practice areas and to remain open to every learning opportunity that comes their way. This is advice I try to follow myself, as each new experience offers a chance to grow both personally and professionally.
