Current ASHP Involvement: Resident Advancement (RAAG)
Reason for ASHP involvement: I was a member during my time as a student and really appreciated the value of the educational offerings. As a resident, I knew I wanted to contribute back to the society that was so helpful to me so far so the residency advancement advisory group was a great fit for me!
Value of ASHP for Peers or Colleagues: The opportunities I’ve had have allowed me to gain leadership experience and to network with a wide variety of pharmacy leaders across the United States. It’s also nice to recognize and have real relationships with pharmacists outside my organization to gain further insight into our field.
Professional Interests and Passions: Critical care – I’ve been a caregiver to a critically ill patient and am eternally grateful for the team that helped him to thrive. From this experience, I’m able to always recognize the important role I can play in helping critically ill patients heal or, in some cases, providing them with dignity and comfort during their final moments.
Advice for other New Practitioners: Do not be afraid to ask questions! Every day is a new opportunity to learn.
Unique Characteristics or Perspectives: I taught pre-nursing students biology and chemistry before pharmacy school, so I love having the opportunity to provide education to my nursing colleagues when interesting disease states or new protocols come up.
Other Interests or Hobbies: Reading, cross stitching, puzzles, and woodworking/woodturning
