Current ASHP Involvement: Practice Advancement and Advocacy (PAAAG)
Reason for ASHP involvement: I initially became involved with ASHP because it aligned with my beliefs of pharmacy practice advancement and health-system pharmacy practice.
Value of ASHP for Peers or Colleagues: ASHP ensured itself as my professional home during my fourth year of pharmacy school. Staying involved after pharmacy school has energized my passion for involvement, expanded my network, and led to countless opportunities across the nation. Being involved with the NPF gives you the power to make small changes nationally, network with peers, and give back to the profession.
Professional Interests and Passions: My professional interests include emergency medicine, cardiac emergencies, and health policy. I am most passionate about health policy - once one realizes that every policy makes some sort of impact (direct or indirect) on healthcare, you realize it feeds into every aspect of pharmacy.
Advice for other New Practitioners: My biggest piece of advice to new practitioners is to stay engaged in professional organizations after graduating. Pharmacy is a small world, and the more people you know, the more connected you are across the U.S.!
Unique Characteristics or Perspectives: My unique characteristic is attention to detail, which is not something super uncommon in the pharmacy industry; however, it pays off in high stress and commutive situations that play out in the ER.
Other Interests or Hobbies: Outside of pharmacy, I enjoy traveling, lifting weights, and hanging out with my fur babies (French Bulldogs), Montego Bay & Margot Merlot!
