Current ASHP Involvement: Clinical Practice (CPAG)
Reason for ASHP involvement: I became involved in ASHP early on in pharmacy school because I knew I wanted to complete a residency. However, at that time, I did not know about all the resources ASHP has to offer. The resources and community have kept me involved through my years as a student, resident, and now new practitioner.
Value of ASHP for Peers or Colleagues: The New Practitioners Forum provides a variety of resources to recent pharmacy graduates. While this stage of life looks different for everyone, there are some common topics we can help with. I am excited to help new pharmacists walk through this transition and provide them with helpful resources to start their career on the best footing possible.
Professional Interests and Passions: Being in primary care, I am passionate about cardiovascular risk reduction. Therefore, I enjoy being involved with hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes management.
Advice for other New Practitioners: I would tell other new practitioners to try to enjoy these years without putting too much pressure on yourself. This is a time to celebrate all we have accomplished and get excited about what is still to come.
Other Interests or Hobbies: I enjoy boating and hiking with my husband and dog. I also have 5 nephews that I love spending time with.
