Member Since: I have been a member since August of 2022.
Current Involvement: I am currently Chair of ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum Residency Preparation Advisory Group.
Favorite Part of ASHP Student Membership: My favorite part of my ASHP student membership is early exposure to health-system pharmacy through networking and resources that helped me apply for a pharmacy residency. An ASHP student membership gives student pharmacists access to residents, preceptors and RPDs through events, forums, and ASHP meetings. It also provides leadership and involvement opportunities on a national level if students are looking for that kind of activity. The most beneficial aspect has been the ability to connect with students all over the country who have similar passions!
Favorite ASHP Memory: My favorite memory from an ASHP event was organizing a residency roundtable where I connected students with current and former residents to create an open space for questions and interview preparation. It was especially rewarding to help students access guidance and mentorship opportunities that their school did not regularly offer.
Advice for Other Student Pharmacists: The advice I have for pharmacy students is to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. You may not know exactly what involvement in a national organization looks like at first, but stepping outside your comfort zone is the only way to discover new opportunities, and doing so can open many doors you didn't even know existed!
