Member Since: I first joined ASHP in December 2023.
Current Involvement:
I currently serve as the vice chair of the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum Residency Preparation Advisory Group.
Favorite Part of ASHP Student Membership:
My favorite part of ASHP student membership is the wide range of resources available to help students become residency-ready. ASHP provides guidance on building a strong CV, preparing for interviews, organizing involvement throughout pharmacy school, and navigating the residency application process. The online Residency Guides, Midyear preparation materials, and career development tools have been especially valuable. ASHP offers everything you need and empowers students to take ownership of their professional growth.
Another meaningful part of my membership has been connecting with pharmacy students, residents, and pharmacists from across the country. These relationships have broadened my understanding of different career paths, helped me find mentors, and created a supportive network that continues to guide my development as a future pharmacist.
Favorite ASHP Memory:
My favorite memory is participating in the residency roundtable event in November 2024. As a member of the Residency Preparation Advisory Group, I helped plan this national roundtable session with members from my workgroup and five residents who shared insights about the residency application process and their first year of residency training. More than 800 students attended, and it was exciting to see so many learners come together to grow and prepare for their futures!
Advice for Other Student Pharmacists:
Start by getting involved at your school. Attend meetings, volunteer on projects, and take on roles that help you build confidence and explore your interests. Give back to your community whenever you can; it’s one of the most rewarding ways to grow professionally and personally. Once you feel grounded, explore statewide and national opportunities. Organizations like ASHP are always looking for motivated students who are eager to contribute. Try new things, step into leadership when you can, and use each experience to shape the kind of professional you want to become.
