Robert Wozniak
Wozniak received his Doctor of Pharmacy from Purdue University and completed a PGY1 pharmacy residency at Atrium Health. He later earned a Master of Health Administration (MHA) from Pfeiffer University and recently completed the ASHP Pharmacy Leadership Academy. Early in his career, Wozniak developed a strong interest in emergency medicine, where he recognized the critical role pharmacists play in high-acuity, time-sensitive patient care. He went on to serve as an Emergency Medicine Clinical Coordinator, where he helped expand pharmacist involvement in emergency response and interdisciplinary care. During this time, he was also instrumental in developing and leading a PGY2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency program, driven by a passion for teaching and advancing the profession. Building on his clinical and leadership experience, Wozniak transitioned into a pharmacy leadership role and now serves as a Clinical Pharmacy Manager at Novant Health. In this role, he leads a team of decentralized pharmacists across numerous services lines, including but not limited to cardiology, internal medicine, and pediatrics. His work focuses on advancing clinical pharmacy services, strengthening medication-use systems, and supporting frontline pharmacists in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. He is particularly passionate about expanding clinical services, improving transitions of care, and developing sustainable care models that enhance both patient outcomes and team performance.

Pharmacy services are embedded throughout the system to promote safe, effective, and efficient medication use.
Current Responsibilities:
As a Clinical Pharmacy Manager, I oversee clinical pharmacy services and support a team of pharmacists practicing in decentralized roles. I am responsible for clinical program development, workflow optimization, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. I also remain engaged in advancing pharmacist involvement in high-acuity care and transitions of care initiatives.
Recent Significant Projects:
I have led and supported several initiatives focused on enhancing medication safety and care delivery. These include expanding pharmacist-led medication education at discharge and improving interdisciplinary workflows to support transitions of care. I recently assisted with the role out of admission and discharge medication reconciliation practices at my facility.
Advice for Someone New to a Specialty Area:
Keep an open mind and don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Growth often comes from challenging situations, and each experience helps build your confidence and clinical judgment. Focus on the patient, seek feedback, and invest in building strong relationships with your team.
Involvement with ASHP:
I have been a member of ASHP since I was a pharmacy student. I have attended many Midyear Clinical Meetings, I have participated in ASHP leadership development programming, including the ASHP Pharmacy Leadership Academy, and I continue to stay engaged with ASHP through the Clinical Leadership Advisory Group.
Reason for ASHP involvement:
ASHP provides a valuable platform to stay connected to best practices, emerging trends, and a national network of pharmacy professionals. My involvement has greatly assisted with my clinical and leadership development.
Value of ASHP for Peers or Colleagues:
ASHP offers opportunities to connect, collaborate, and learn from peers across the country. It helps pharmacists stay current, share ideas, and continuously improve their practice.
Value of ASHP for the Profession:
ASHP plays a vital role in advancing health-system pharmacy through advocacy, education, and leadership development. It helps elevate the profession and supports pharmacists in driving meaningful improvements in patient care.
