Gene Decaminada
Gene Decaminada is the Pharmacy Manager for the Yale New Haven Health Home Infusion Program. Currently overseeing the building of a new clean room and creation of a successful program. He is responsible for adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and policies and performs on-site training. Gene is a graduate of St. John’s University in New York where he received his B.S. degree. His professional interests include USP 797/800 Standards for Sterile Compounding, being involved for 42 years. He has been a home infusion pharmacist for over 20+ years and a member of the National Home Infusion Association (NHIA) since 1999. Gene has held a variety of clinical and leadership positions. His interest areas include clean room guidelines and standards for sterile compounding. Gene is a past member of the BPS Taskforce where he participated in a 1-year role delineation study for sterile compounding credentialling. He served as an active member of the BPS Sterile Compounding Council for 3 years, which ended in December 2021. He has been an active past member of both the NHIA Sterile Compounding, Standards and Outcomes Committees. Currently a member of both the NHIA Sterile Compounding Practice Committee (SCPC) and the Vizient Home Infusion Subcommittee. Gene has participated in various ASHP SAG committees, including the Advisory Group on Compounding Practice. In January 2021, Gene was selected for the honor of becoming a Fellow of the National Home Infusion Association (FNHIA). This established him among an exceptional group of leaders in the field with contributions toward promoting excellence in home infusion practice and the ASHP SPPL Advisory Group on Quality and Compliance. In September 2021 Gene was awarded the Connecticut Pharmacists Association (CPA) Professional Pharmacy Performance award. September 2023 Gene was awarded the (CPA) Connecticut Pharmacists Bowl of Hygeia award. Recently, Gene received the 2024 Connecticut Pharmacist Associations Fellowship award (FCPA). Outside of the office interests, Gene enjoys coaching hockey and volunteering time with a special needs group, the Northern Braveheart’s Hockey Club.

Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) in Connecticut. YNHHS currently consists of five delivery networks.

Recent Significant Projects:
I am currently standing up a new Home Infusion program within a major Connecticut health-system.

Please be passionate at what you do, your daily efforts matter to everyone including your patients.
Involvement with ASHP:
I am an active member of the ASHP SPPL Leadership Development and Succession Planning Advisory Group (LDSP).
Reason for ASHP involvement:
I continue to give back to the profession I am most passionate about. I would also like to make a difference in providing patient care.
Value of ASHP for Peers or Colleagues:
ASHP is a tremendous resource for exchanging ideas and learning new things. I feel the mission, the value of ASHP to a peer or colleague can be described through its robust professional support system, which includes networking, advocacy, and career advancement resources. Membership is particularly valuable for advancing a career, shaping policy, and staying current with evolving pharmacy practices.

ASHP offers significant value to the pharmacy profession through its leadership in advocacy, practice advancement, and professional development.
