Description of the Program:
The New England Residency Showcase (NERS) provides a unique networking opportunity, allowing students to connect directly with 75+ residency programs across New England. Attendees can speak with current residents and program directors to gain practical insights into their respective programs. With the help of MCPHS Boston’s faculty advisor, the NERS is an annual residency showcase hosted by the student society.

Resources:
Utilizing the ASHP directory, the student society reaches out to New England residency programs via email every year to gauge their interest in participating in the event. The SSHP collects and organizes program availability for a morning and afternoon session via an online form to create the program list. About a month before the event, the SSHP confirms attendance of the residency programs and their respective representatives.

Leading up to the event, the SSHP also uses ASHP student resources, including, Road to Residency: Planning for Success as a P1-P3 Student, during general meetings to prepare members for the actual NERS event.

Promotion of Event:
The SSHP incorporates online promotion on its Instagram. SSHP also collaborates with faculty and the career development office to broaden our reach through email blasts to the pharmacy student body. NERS is also advertised at other SSHP events.

Advice for Other SSHPs:
A pre/post-survey would be helpful to assess actionable feedback and continued quality improvement. It would be ideal to ask students if the programs they wanted were present and if the showcase helped participants feel more prepared for residency applications or events such as the Midyear.

Additional Information:
If feasible, consider having a time slot specifically for non-P4 students. This may help programs and students have better expectations. Name tags may also be beneficial to differentiate students.
