Reasons for selecting this career pathAs a pharmacy student, I was first exposed to pharmacy administration through an internship at a large academic medical center. This was a defining moment in my career, as it was then that I learned I could combine my interests in leadership with pharmacy practice, positively impacting the profession and the patients we serve on a daily basis. I would later begin a 2-year Health-System Pharmacy Administration (HSPA) residency at Duke University Hospital. During my HSPA residency, I sought opportunities to gather additional experience in specific areas of pharmacy administration: finance, revenue management, 340B and business development. I am fortunate to now be in a role where my daily responsibilities align exceptionally well with my professional interests.

Interest in the NPF Executive Committee
ASHP has been my professional home since I first entered the profession as a student pharmacist. My experience serving on various advisory groups and councils with ASHP has provided me with valuable perspectives as a New Practitioner. I understand the important role that the ASHP New Practitioners Forum (NPF) serves by providing New Practitioners with opportunities for professional development and collaboration with health-system pharmacists of all backgrounds and levels of experience. As an Executive Committee (EC) member of the NPF, I am excited and eager to collaborate with all New Practitioners to position the NPF to best meet the needs of its membership.
Benefits of being involved in ASHP as a New Practitioner
ASHP is an ideal organization for networking and maintaining a strong level of professional engagement. As a New Practitioner, it can be easy to focus solely on what is impacting your practice at the current moment; however, ASHP provides resources that allow New Practitioners to maintain a high level of knowledge regarding topics that impact our profession on a more global basis.
Fun Fact
I have a twin brother.
