Why I Do What I Do
I enjoy working in the inpatient pharmacy for several reasons. The two reasons that stands out among others. The first is that I am able work with others to provide the best standard of care for all patients, which involves constant education on new regulations state and federal. This requires having/showing empathy for everyone. The best way to accomplish empathy, is put yourself in their shoes. The second reason is because I enjoy training others. The pharmaceutical field is ever changing. I would rather absorb all knowledge and disperse it out to others. My ultimate goal is to help change the culture of pharmacy technicians everywhere for the better.
Latest Accomplishment
I was appointed to the position of the inpatient sterile products coordinator. This position helps with patient safety – making sure that all employees are competent on all required training on the standards of chapter USP 797 and 800.
Most Memorable Experience as a Pharmacy Technician
My most memorable experience as a pharmacy technician is receiving an award from the hospital commander at Fort Campbell Army post for outstanding patient safety and quality assurance for a near miss of the wrong concentration of gentamycin for a newborn before it was giving to the nurse. I was not excepting an award, because I feel that all health care workers are patient safety officers.
Why I Became Certified
I became a certified pharmacy technician because being certified shows that you are standing above the all since it is not required. I never liked to be complacent and I crave for knowledge. The sky is the limit and I am doing what I love.
My Passion Outside of Work
My passion outside of work is helping soldiers that are transitioning out of the military. I am an Army veteran and I love to give back to my fellow comrades. That is one of the reasons why I work on a military post. Spending quality time with family is my number one passion.
