CPhT-Adv, CSPT, MD (Austria)

Pharmacy Technician

Boston Children's Hospital

Boston, MA

Number of Years at Organization:

8 years

Reasons for Selecting this Career Path:

After deciding to immigrate to the US, I wanted to stay close to the medical field while establishing myself in a new and exciting country. Starting from the basics, I selected Pharmacy as the profession to find my temporary new home while tackling the journey back towards my field of study.

Professional Interests:

Education and Development, Sterile Compounding and Compliance

Interest in the PTF Executive Committee:

I wanted to join ASHP to help my profession grow and to shine a light on the excellence and dedication of an often overlooked healthcare workforce group. Personally, I like to challenge myself to not stand still, but to keep up life-long learning and developing, hoping to be a great resource and mentor for my peers. Ideally, I hope to inspire them and help them to soar to new professional heights. Just as with my past ASHP opportunities, I hope to be able to expand my knowledge and skills and get yet another opportunity to strengthen and represent our Pharmacy Technicians not just locally, but on a national level.

Benefits of being involved in ASHP as a Pharmacy Technician?

There are plenty of benefits of being involved in ASHP. Once you take a step across the threshold, you immediately are connected with a group of friends and peers across the country, opening new opportunities for thought and experience exchange, motivation to try something new, getting advice or also the huge benefit of great educational materials.Volunteering on one of ASHP’s committees or taking part in an advisory group, you even get the great opportunity to help form and shape the future of our profession on a national level. I can’t recommend getting involved enough, also if you might feel intimidated at first to “ring the doorbell”.

Fun Fact about yourself:

Maybe even bigger than the collection of my medical books is my collection of cooking and baking books. You could say that “compounding” seems to run in my blood. Also, currently trying to re-claim the throne in terms of bad-dad-jokes. Our child told me that they are only second ‘worst”  behind my wife’s.
