Why I Do What I Do:
The majority of my family has chosen the field of education and for some reason, I had my heart set on health care. I had never explored the field of pharmacy as a career and I am so glad I did. Being a part of this field, learning the ins and outs of medication research, and seeing the growth of the pharmacy industry as a whole has continued to fuel the passion I have for pharmacy.
Latest Accomplishment:
In January 2020, at the Montana Pharmacy Association (MPA) Winter CE & Ski Conference, I was awarded Pharmacy Technician of the Year. I am also a past recipient of an ASHP Best Practice Award for my collaboration on the Clinical and Financial Benefits of Smart Pump-Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Interoperability at a Regional Health-System Hospital.
Most Memorable Experience as a Pharmacy Technician:
I don't think I can name just one. I have loved every bit of my pharmacy technician career and can truly say I love my job and am grateful for each opportunity that comes my way. I am so excited I get to go to "fun" every day because it isn't work for me.
Why I Became Certified:
I became certified because I viewed my position as more than just a job. I wanted to make this a career and didn't want to stifle the growth opportunities the pharmacy industry has to offer for pharmacy technicians.
My Passion Outside of Work:
Spending time outdoors/traveling with my family.
Latest Book Read:
I am currently reading The Orphan Keeper by Camron Wright.
Advice to Up-and-Coming Technicians:
If it is to be, it is up to me. I have carried that "mantra" with me for years and truly believe that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. Don't be afraid to set goals and achieve them.
