When did you first join ASHP?
I became a member of ASHP in the fall of 2021, just a few months into my first year of pharmacy school! This organization was one that offered so much, including opportunities to advance my professional growth and deepen my understanding of clinical pathways within the realm of pharmacy.
What is your current involvement with the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum (i.e. advisory group or executive committee appointment)?
I am an active member of the Career and Leadership Development Advisory Group within the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum. This role has provided me the opportunity to connect with pharmacy students from all over the country, enhance my leadership skills, and contribute valuable resources to empower other pharmacy students in their career progression.
What is your favorite part of your ASHP student membership? What has been most beneficial about being a student member of ASHP?
What I find particularly rewarding as a member of ASHP is the profound sense of community and the abundance of resources the organization provides. When embarking on the journey of pharmacy school, the guidance and support from peers and those who have previously completed this journey are essential to ensuring a successful and fulfilling academic experience.
What is your favorite memory from an ASHP event, project, or program?
I currently hold the position of President for ASHP-SSHP at UNC's pharmacy school. Among the numerous events I've organized, the networking dinners with residents and pharmacists stand out as my favorite. It offers students a unique opportunity to learn about the backgrounds and journeys that have shaped pharmacists into who they are today, while also gaining insights into a wide spectrum of career paths.
What advice do you have for pharmacy students seeking to become involved in national organizations?
Embrace stepping outside of your comfort zone and challenge yourself to take on leadership roles. You will experience personal growth in ways you never thought were possible!
