When did you first join ASHP?
I joined ASHP in the Fall of 2018, during my first professional year of pharmacy school.
What is your current involvement with the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum (i.e. advisory group or executive committee appointment)?
I currently serve asChair of the Pharmacy Student Forum Student Society Development Advisory Group.
What is your favorite part of your ASHP student membership? What has been most beneficial about being a student member of ASHP?
I am appreciative of the wide array of leadership opportunities available to students through ASHP. They work hard in a variety of ways to prepare students for a successful career in pharmacy. For instance, they provide many resources for preparing for residency and opportunities to gain insight into current pharmacy practices.
What is your favorite memory from an ASHP event, project, or program?
My favorite memory from my work with ASHP was assisting with their Share & Reapply program. This allows student chapters to be spotlighted for impressive projects they have arranged. This then assists other chapters in brainstorming and planning projects at their own schools. I really enjoyed my time in this role because it was incredible to see the projects schools had successfully completely and the impact they had on their communities. As well, it was a great opportunity to see how student chapters were supporting each other's success.
What advice do you have for pharmacy students seeking to become involved in national organizations?
I highly recommend pharmacy students start applying to leadership positions at the state and national levels as early as possible. For instance, consider applying to a student forum advisory group. I believe this goes a long way in helping students have a well rounded understanding of how other schools and pharmacy as a whole operates around the country.
