When did you first join ASHP?
I joined my P1 year of pharmacy school. The President of the SSHP chapter had spoken with me about ASHP the summer before. She sparked my interest in being involved.
What is your current involvement with the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum (i.e. advisory group or executive committee appointment)?
I am in the Student Society Development Advisory Group (SSDAG) of the Pharmacy Student Forum, and I co-lead for the wellbeing and resilience workgroup. I also am the student representative for the Council of Education and Workforce. Lastly, I am an ASHP Well-being Ambassador.
What is your favorite part of your ASHP student membership? What has been most beneficial about being a student member of ASHP?
My favorite part is the network of students that I have been able to meet. I have been to Midyear and the Summer meeting. These conferences and the vast reach of ASHP have created friendships across the world for me. The most beneficial perk of being an ASHP member is the resources that you receive for being just a member. The opportunities and resources truly make ASHP special in my professional career.
What is your favorite memory from an ASHP event, project, or program?
My favorite memory is attending the 2022 ASHP Summer Meeting. I attended a roundtable session addressing imposter syndrome. I met some amazing students that I was able to connect with. We were able to talk about our fears in leadership and support each other through the process.
What advice do you have for pharmacy students seeking to become involved in national organizations?
Step outside your comfort zone! I was President of my local SSHP chapter for two years and I was so nervous. But allowing myself to be uncomfortable has pushed me to grow and strive to apply for national positions.
