When did you first join ASHP?
I joined ASHP as a 1st year pharmacy student in Fall 2019.
What is your current involvement with the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum (i.e. advisory group or executive committee appointment)?
I am a member of the Pharmacy Student Forum Residency Preparation Advisory Group.
What is your favorite part of your ASHP student membership? What has been most beneficial about being a student member of ASHP?
My favorite part of my ASHP student membership is being able to connect with not only fellow students at my school but those at other schools of pharmacy across the country. It really helped me come up with ideas to better my student chapter when I was president. The most beneficial thing about being a student member of ASHP has been the opportunity to network. Being in contact with other student members across the country was the first step, then I was able to talk with some pharmacists through virtual Midyear last year, and now I am really excited to network with even more pharmacists and students at this year's Midyear meeting in person!
What is your favorite memory from an ASHP event, project, or program?
My favorite memory from an ASHP event would have to be the pharmacist roundtable. I organized this event myself, and it was truly a great experience to watch all of the students learn so much about pharmacy from the experienced pharmacists in attendance. It was also great to see how many of them shared that the event far exceeded their expectations, and that they were excited to attend again!
What advice do you have for pharmacy students seeking to become involved in national organizations?
My advice would be do not be afraid of joining a national organization just because you don't know anyone else doing it. Getting out of your comfort zone is the best way to grow, and being involved in a national organization is something that can really push you to be the best student and future pharmacist you can be.
