Emily Buttermore
When did you first join ASHP?
I first joined ASHP's national organization in the Fall of 2021.
What is your current involvement with the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum (i.e. advisory group or executive committee appointment)?
I am currently a PSF Advisory Group member for the 2022-23 year.
What is your favorite part of your ASHP student membership? What has been most beneficial about being a student member of ASHP?
My favorite part of my ASHP student membership is the opportunity to make connections and network with not only other pharmacy students but also pharmacists who are able to provide new perspective and insight as I grow into my role as a future pharmacist. The most beneficial part of my ASHP student membership thus far has been the opportunity to participate in a Student Advisory Group, as this is a totally new experience for me.
What is your favorite memory from an ASHP event, project, or program?
My favorite ASHP memory took place last year at the 2021 Virtual Midyear Meeting. A pharmacist joined my colleague and I's breakout room and gave us new insight with regard to our research project we were presenting, which left us feeling motivated to continue with our project and as future pharmacists in a rapidly developing field.
What advice do you have for pharmacy students seeking to become involved in national organizations?
My advice for other pharmacy students is: don't be afraid to reach out and get involved! You never know what opportunities lie ahead of you if you keep an open mind and are willing to take the chance.
