When did you first join ASHP?
I joined ASHP in the Fall of 2019, during my first year of pharmacy school.
What is your current involvement with the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum (i.e. advisory group or executive committee appointment)?
I serve as a member of the Advancement of Professional Practice Advisory Group.
What is your favorite part of your ASHP student membership? What has been most beneficial about being a student member of ASHP?
My favorite part of my ASHP student membership has been access to mentors who have challenged me to grow as both a leader and future clinician. I am grateful for this chance to expand my network of mentors, and their positive influence makes me excited to to pay it forward and serve as a mentor to future students.
What is your favorite memory from an ASHP event, project, or program?
My favorite memory has been creating a podcast with my fellow advisory group members that highlights the importance of student advocacy. We loved the opportunity to collaborate with the ASHP Government Relations Division to promote ASHP resources and initiatives for student members. This project has reinforced my excitement to continue advocating for the pharmacy profession throughout my career.
What advice do you have for pharmacy students seeking to become involved in national organizations?
My advice is to “go for it” and participate in national pharmacy organizations now! Not only will you learn from new perspectives and gain beneficial skills, but getting engaged now can make it easier to find your passions and stay involved throughout your career!
