When did you first join ASHP?

I joined as a P1 and I've enjoyed being a member of ASHP the past four years! From the beginning, I knew I was interested in clinical pharmacy practice, and I was confident that joining ASHP would provide me with the resources to learn more about the pharmacy profession. The opportunities that ASHP has provided have immensely shaped who I am today. I've learned so much about the pharmacy profession and connected with passionate pharmacy students and pharmacy mentors.

What is your current involvement with the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum (i.e. advisory group or executive committee appointment)?

I currently serve as Chair of the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum Advancement of Professional Practice Advisory Group. Last year, I was a member of the Student Society Development Advisory Group, and I've enjoyed growing in my involvement and connecting with pharmacy students across the nation over the past two years.

What is your favorite part of your ASHP student membership? What has been most beneficial about being a student member of ASHP?

The opportunities for mentorship! Connecting with pharmacy leaders through meetings, educational programming, and the Mentor Match program are some fantastic ways that I have been able to meet and learn from those practicing in the profession. My mentors have guided me through my pharmacy school career, and I would not be where I am today without them. I hope to pay it forward in the future.

What is your favorite memory from an ASHP event, project, or program?

My favorite memory is participating in the Student Society Showcase during Midyear! Our SSHP chapter presented on multi-campus service opportunities that targeted the unique needs of our communities, and it was a way for us to highlight the initiatives our members were a part of. Sharing our insight and experiences while also learning about other successful programs hosted by other SSHP chapters during the Student Society Showcase was a great way to connect and discover more opportunities that we could provide for our members.

What advice do you have for pharmacy students seeking to become involved in national organizations?

Start now, and don't be afraid to get involved in the national level! It can seem daunting to get involved, but you can learn so much from this experience. As a student, I've enjoyed my involvement with the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum Advisory Groups, and this is a great way for YOU to get involved too! Your experiences with your local SSHP chapter can offer new perspectives to other members within the advisory group, and this is an opportunity for you to make an impact for other pharmacy students.
