When did you first join ASHP?
I joined ASHP earlier this year to learn more about pharmacy careers within health systems and broaden my horizons.
What is your current involvement with the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum (i.e. advisory group or executive committee appointment)?
I am currently on the Pharmacy Student Forum Advisory Group on Career Leadership & Development.
What is your favorite part of your ASHP student membership? What has been most beneficial about being a student member of ASHP?
My favorite memory is the project I am currently working on, were I plan on holding an interview with the director of pharmacy at the hospital I work at and talk more with her on what it’s like being a health system administrator. I am particularly excited about this as I want to go into healthcare administration following pharmacy school.
What is your favorite memory from an ASHP event, project, or program?
My favorite memory is attending the 2022 ASHP Summer Meeting. I attended a roundtable session addressing imposter syndrome. I met some amazing students that I was able to connect with. We were able to talk about our fears in leadership and support each other through the process.
What advice do you have for pharmacy students seeking to become involved in national organizations?
I would say that you should go for it. Sign up for that membership, join that extra club, take that committee position. All the different national pharmacy organizations can provide you with resources and connections that you wouldn’t find otherwise. You’ll be surprised at how small the pharmacy world is and getting involved is one of the best ways to really put yourself out there, as well as broaden your horizons and learn.
