Ysabelle Calara
When did you first join ASHP?
I first joined in Spring of 2022.
What is your current involvement with the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum (i.e. advisory group or executive committee appointment)?
I am on the DEI work group under PSF advisory group.
What is your favorite part of your ASHP student membership? What has been most beneficial about being a student member of ASHP?
My favorite part of the student membership is interacting with other student pharmacists, especially learning about how their organization and their pharmacy school operates. The most beneficial thing about being a student member is contributing towards making a positive impact not only for members, but also those in the public who are interested.
What is your favorite memory from an ASHP event, project, or program?
I am looking forward to the gender affirming care initiative that our workgroup is planning. I am interested in improving my own knowledge and experience as a healthcare provider as well as sharing and teaching it to others.
What advice do you have for pharmacy students seeking to become involved in national organizations?
You will not regret stepping out of your comfort zone and being involved in national organizations. It is great to be involved locally as well, but if you are interested in impacting a wider audience and even learning more about the organization as a whole, it is the best way to advocate for our profession as pharmacists.
