Brian Verlizzo
Brian’s Story
Dr. Verlizzo received his Doctor of Pharmacy from Northeastern University in Boston in 2007. He began working at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2004 and has held positions in general medicine, cardiology, critical care, compounding, oncology/pediatrics and compliance. He received his Master of Health Administration from Suffolk University in 2013. He is a member of the ASHP Section Advisory Group for Pain and Palliative Care. He has also completed the ASHP Foundation’s Leaders Innovation Masters Series (LIMS) courses on Strategic Management and Transformational Leadership. He is also involved in the ASHP CV Review Program. Dr. Verlizzo practices as the clinical and operational manager for the MGH West Cancer Center, a suburban satellite of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Facility
Dr. Verlizzo practices in the MGH Outpatient Oncology Infusion Center. He is the manager of the Outpatient Oncology Infusion Satellite and was instrumental in building the pharmacy services provided. MGH is a large academic medical center with a 22 chair satellite infusion center.
Significant Projects
The Cancer Center opened in July 2015 and Dr. Verlizzo was responsible for the launch and making sure the pharmacy department was fully operational and compliant with all state and federal regulations. He was recently responsible for the entire area’s preparation for EPIC EHR implementation.
