Jacqueline Joss

Jacqueline’s Story

Dr. Joss received her undergraduate degree from Rhodes University, South Africa in 1992 and her Pharm.D. from the University of Iowa in 1994. She then completed a PGY1 Residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in 1995.

Jacqueline has published a few articles and a book with ASHP, and is now involved in the SAG for Ambulatory Care Medication Management.

Facility

Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center (GSRMC) is part of Samaritan Health Services, a five- hospital, not-for-profit healthcare system. The system is a teaching institution and houses a medical school in partnership with Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. The extensive network of more than 80 outpatient primary care and specialist clinics serves the mid-Willamette Valley in Oregon from Sweet Home to the central coast.

Significant Projects

Dr. Joss has been involved in the expansion of comprehensive anticoagulation clinics to cover the entire service area (3,500 visits per month). The ambulatory care clinics have grown to now include anemia management, pulmonary wellness, an oral chemotherapy program and currently a pharmacist home visit program is being built. She is the program director for the PGY 1 pharmacy residency, which started in 2003.

Advice for Someone New to Specialty Area

Jacqueline advises practitioners new to the practice area to network as much as possible. Pharmacy is a great profession and everyone is always willing to help to make us all better.

Becoming Involved in ASHP

Jacqueline feels that involvement with ASHP is crucial to allow growth within her practice and to help the younger generation grow as well.
