Becoming Involved in ASHP

"I became involved with ASHP as a student to learn about residency opportunities and meet local/regional leaders in Health-System Pharmacy. ASHP has been a great resource for me as a resident and new practitioner. I stay connected with ASHP to foster my professional development, network, and advance the pharmacy profession."

Advice for Someone New to Specialty Area

"For those entering ambulatory care pharmacy, find your passion and let that fuel your practice, research and teaching efforts. As a new practitioner in an ambulatory care setting, be adaptable, be a team player and be ready for change. Build relationships with everyone around you – providers, ancillary medical staff and your patients. This will help facilitate your efforts towards practicing at the top of your license. "

Value of ASHP

"ASHP is one of the largest pharmacy organizations, although still provides helpful resources for anyone in the pharmacy profession in any practice setting or specialty. As a new practitioner, I have found the ASHP career development resources and New Practitioner Forum career transition guides useful as I transitioned from student, to resident, and now into academia."

"ASHP is actively involved with advancing the pharmacy profession through supporting the practice of pharmacy and the full spectrum of medication use. ASHP advocates for key issues affecting scope of practice, healthcare reform, medication safety, among many more."
