What has been a recent project or significant professional accomplishment?
I recently helped establish the 10th residency program for Albertsons Companies in collaboration with UCI. We began the program in June 2022 and have been working hard to provide a comprehensive and rewarding experience for our first resident.
What value do you think ASHP provides to community-based pharmacy practitioners?
ASHP has been continuously expanding its dedication to the community pharmacy workforce through the Community Pharmacy Resource Center. There are numerous resources available for pharmacists, technicians, student pharmacists, and pharmacy residents. ASHP provides support through patient education, professional development, and leadership and management. I look forward to seeing that support continue to grow and hope to contribute to these resources.
What advice would you provide for individuals new to your area of expertise?
My advice for pharmacists new to community-based practice would be to get involved with local pharmacy organizations and utilize the resources available to you through organizations like ASHP. Local and national organizations provide great networking opportunities and the ability to discuss topics relevant to your practice with like-minded individuals. Even if you have been involved with a community-based pharmacy for many years, know that it is never too late to get involved!
