Significant Projects

I am currently involved with quality improvement projects. This includes a medication use evaluation focused on hypoglycemic pharmacotherapy practices at Atrium Health. Additionally, I serve as primary preceptor for PharmD candidates at High Point University School of Pharmacy and Wingate University School of Pharmacy.

Initial Involvement in ASHP

Dr. Green is a member of ASHP and is currently serving as a member of the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners Advisory Group on Pharmacy Practice Experiences Precepting (PPEP).

Why did you become involved in ASHP?

I became a member of ASHP after graduation to collaborate with other pharmacists and grow professionally. Because of ASHP’s role in establishing standards of practice, the organization was my go-to resource to improve practice and steer career goals.

How would you explain the value of ASHP to a friend or colleague?

There are multiple ways ASHP has provided value. It is a resource for continuing education, professional development, and resources for my current practice and precepting needs.

Advice for Someone New to Your Specialty Area

I encourage new pharmacists to get involved through professional organizations and organizational committees. Also, I warn against underestimating the value of developing relationships with experienced pharmacists. I’ve learned a tremendous amount from my colleagues over the years! Finally, I also encourage them to obtain the credentials and continue to invest in their clinical knowledge well after graduation.

What is the value of ASHP for the profession?

It is vital that pharmacists unite and speak out on issues collectively. ASHP helps practicing pharmacists grasp where the profession is currently as well as steer the future of pharmacy practice.
