Advice for Someone New to Your Specialty Area

“Stay abreast of the current evidence and clinical guidelines for the various disease states. One way to achieve that is to be a preceptor. Participating in a fourth year pharmacy student or resident’s education by precepting keeps you on your proverbial toes. Also, subscribe to receive the table of contents of the various journal to stay abreast of what has been recently published. Lastly, become involved with your state and national organizations.”

ASHP’s Value to Members

“ASHP allows you the ability to network with pharmacy professionals on a national level in convenient methods, either online via ASHP Connect or in person at national meetings. You have the opportunity to find out about the innovative pharmacy practices that are taking place at other health systems either to implement or tweak at your own practice sites.”

“ASHP shows the value of the pharmacist in a health system on a national level, and gives tools for pharmacists to use to demonstrate that value on a local level.”
