Stacey Preston

Her Story

Stacey L. Preston, Pharm.D., BCPS , received her Bachelor of Science in pharmacy at the Ohio State University in December of 1990. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy in 1997. She is currently board certified in pharmacotherapy. Dr. Preston has been a member of ASHP for most of her career. She is serving in the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners as a member of the Section Advisory Group on Small and Rural Hospitals.

Overview of Facility/Health System

University Hospitals Portage Medical Center is a community hospital that is a part of the larger University Hospitals system. Dr. Preston is also an assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). As a practice-based faculty member, Dr. Preston has a clinical practice at her site and teaching responsibilities at NEOMED.

Significant Projects

“I am the Residency Director at my clinical site where we have recently achieved accreditation for our residency program. This has been an exciting project to lead, from developing our residency plans to graduating our first residents, and now obtaining this goal.”

“In Internal Medicine you need to have a plan for keeping up with the literature. Signing up for newsletters like the ASHP Daily Digest can be a good place to start. You can also sign up with many journals and have their table of contents emailed to you whenever an issue is published.”

“I also recommend finding one or more mentors to help you plan and guide your career. Having a mentor can help you focus on your future and really help you get where you want to go more efficiently in your career.”

“Through advocacy, ASHP pushes pharmacy to expand its role and helps us to do more for our patients.”
