Reasons for selecting this career path:
My interest in pharmacy began during my sophomore year when my classmates and I were tasked with shadowing three different careers. One of my choices was a community pharmacist. Throughout the day, I witnessed firsthand the strong rapport pharmacists built with their patients as they answered questions and collaborated with healthcare providers. This relationship was built on a foundation of trust, which left a lasting impression on me. As I advanced through my education, I discovered the diverse opportunities available to pharmacists. From community hospitals and the VA to academic medical centers, industry, and research facilities, pharmacists play pivotal roles in various settings. However, it was in the emergency department that I found my true calling. Here, I felt deeply connected, working alongside a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing optimal patient care. This environment emphasized continuous learning and improvement, qualities that resonate deeply with my professional goals.
