Ella Domingo Vogt

Ella Domingo Vogt is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy and Internal Medicine Specialist at Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin. She received her Pharm.D. from Purdue University College of Pharmacy and completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy residency followed by a PGY-2 Internal Medicine residency at Ascension Seton in Austin, Texas. Ella previously served as ASHP Summer Intern, Pharmacy Student Forum Executive Committee Chair, and New Practitioners Forum Clinical Practice Advisory Group Chair. In her free time, she enjoys singing, playing instruments, running, and going to concerts with her husband.

Reasons for selecting this career path:
I’ve had a passion for both education and patient care, having been raised by wonderful parents who are an educator and nurse. Internal medicine always appealed to me with its well-roundedness and since I loved learning about so many disease states throughout my training! With additional positive influence from professors and mentors in pharmacy school, I wanted to carry that educational impact forward as a clinician educator by helping students connect concepts from the classroom into real world clinical practice, advancing the pharmacy profession and developing pharmacy students as professionals. I taught in a variety of settings during residency training, including teaching in Pharm.D. courses, precepting IPPE and APPE students, and facilitating small group sessions. As a clinical assistant professor, I have continued these responsibilities with focus on my specialty in internal medicine and additional courses centered around professional development.

• Hepatology, nephrology
• Residency preparation and professional development

Interest in serving on the NPF Executive Committee:
New practitioners are in a unique transitional season in which we are continuing to build on the foundations of pharmacy practice from our training, learn about local and national opportunities for pharmacy practice advancement, and dig our heels into the areas where we want to leave a lasting impact even in these early stages of our careers. I look forward to assisting with the needs of new practitioners, helping implement practical and timely resources to meet those needs, and fostering an environment that celebrates new practitioner innovation and success within our respective areas in pharmacy.
