Reasons for selecting pharmacy:
My decision to pursue a career in pharmacy is rooted in a deep passion for infectious diseases and a desire to make a meaningful impact on patient care and public health. I’ve always been fascinated by the intersection of pharmacology and microbiology; particularly how antimicrobial agents are used to treat infections and how pharmacists contribute to combating antimicrobial resistance. Through my involvement in public health initiatives focused on HIV/AIDS awareness and vaccine education, I’ve witnessed the essential role pharmacists play in promoting medication access, adherence, and health equity—especially in underserved communities. I’m inspired by infectious diseases pharmacists who serve as clinical leaders, educators, and advocates for antimicrobial stewardship, ensuring medications are used safely and effectively. Their work aligns perfectly with my interests in patient-centered care, health advocacy, and global health innovation. Pharmacy provides the opportunity to merge science, service, and leadership into a single career path, and I’m excited to grow into a pharmacist who not only supports individual patients but also addresses broader infectious disease challenges on a systemic level.
Professional Interests:
Interest in the PSF Executive Committee:
I am highly motivated to serve on the PSF Executive Committee because it offers a meaningful opportunity to advance student leadership, professional development, and public health advocacy on a national scale. With a strong foundation in infectious diseases and a deep passion for pharmacy education, I aim to contribute a forward-thinking, service-oriented perspective to the committee. My current leadership roles—as the Professional Development Work Group Lead for the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum and as the Regional Project Officer for IPSF—have strengthened my skills in strategic planning, communication, and team collaboration. These experiences have equipped me to contribute effectively to this influential role, where I am eager to advocate for the needs and growth of pharmacy students across the country.
How being a member of ASHP has assisted in my personal and professional development:
Being a member of ASHP has been instrumental in shaping both my personal and professional development as a student pharmacist. Through my involvement in the Pharmacy Student Forum and as an Advisory Group Work Group Lead, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with peers and mentors nationwide, gaining valuable leadership, project management, and communication skills. ASHP has connected me with a network of professionals who inspire my career goals, especially in infectious diseases and public health, and has provided access to educational resources, webinars, and career development tools that have broadened my understanding of pharmacy practice. Participating in national initiatives and discussions has helped me grow as an advocate for the profession, sharpened my ability to think strategically, and fueled my desire to contribute to the advancement of pharmacy. On a personal level, ASHP has strengthened my confidence, helped me find my voice as a leader, and reaffirmed my commitment to serving patients and communities through meaningful, innovative pharmacy work.
Goals for the year as a PSFEC Member:
Through the Executive Committee, I aim to help shape initiatives that empower student pharmacists, foster meaningful engagement, and promote innovative programming that bridges clinical excellence with public health impact. I’m especially excited to advocate for opportunities that inspire students to explore diverse pharmacy career paths while addressing critical healthcare challenges such as health equity, vaccine awareness, and antimicrobial stewardship.
Fun Fact:
I drink too much coffee, talk too much, and can connect you with people around the world. You will always be surprised by where I’m traveling to next.
