Status epilepticus is a true medical emergency that can lead to severe morbidity and mortality despite appropriate therapy. Rapid and aggressive treatment along with identifying any underlying causes are paramount to successful management and are cornerstones of ED management. This podcast will discuss strategies for the management of status epilepticus and pitfalls in the care of these patients.

 Daniel Jarrell is a Clinical  Pharmacist in emergency medicine at Banner – University Medical Center Tucson.  He serves as the program director for the PGY2 emergency medicine residency  program at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy/Banner – University  Medical Center Tucson. His interests include critical care in the ED,  toxicology, and precepting. He currently serves as an active member on the ASHP  SAG for EM.

 Lance Ray is a Clinical Specialist  in Emergency Medicine and PGY2 Residency Program Director at Denver Health. He  is affiliate faculty with the Global Emergency Care Initiative and lecturer in  the School of Pharmacy at the University of Colorado. He also clinically  teaches within the PGY1 - PGY4 year Denver Health Emergency Medicine Physician  Residency Program. He has extensive experience in the Emergency Department with  previous practice at Texas Health Resources followed by University of Colorado  Hospital. His research and clinical interests focus on acute management of  arrhythmia and heart failure in the emergency setting. Lance earned his PharmD  from the University of Texas College of Pharmacy. He is a member of the ASHP  Section Advisory Group for Emergency Medicine, is recipient of several  statewide pharmacy teaching awards and has held leadership positions with ASHP  and the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
