In this episode, leaders from five different health system specialty pharmacies share examples of disasters and emergencies that their specialty pharmacies have encountered. Speakers will share their experiences, and describe the business continuity plans they implemented to sustain operations.

Alicia Verret, PharmD, CSP, (she/her) is the manager for Specialty Pharmacy at Ochsner Health in New Orleans, Louisiana. Alicia oversees the operations of the Specialty Pharmacy including clinical and non-clinical staff and operations. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Xavier University and is currently pursuing her Master of Health Administration degree at Louisiana State University- Shreveport. She is a certified specialty pharmacist and is a member of the ASHP Section Advisory Group on Accreditation and Compliance.
Helen Northrup, PharmD, BCACP, CSP, DPLA, (she/her) is a clinical coordinator at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Specialty Pharmacy Services in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with areas of focus including home delivery and medication access. She is native of Sumy, Ukraine. Helen graduated from University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 2016 and completed a postgraduate year 1 Community-Based Residency program at Wake Forest Baptist Health in 2017. Her passion for direct patient care led her to practice in community, ambulatory and specialty pharmacy settings.
Emily Hoefing, PharmD, BCPS, (she/her) is the ambulatory pharmacy operations manager of Specialty Pharmacy at the University of Iowa Health Care. Prior to her role as manager, she worked as a pharmacy practice specialist and helped create and oversee a centralized Specialty Pharmacy service line. Emily received her PharmD from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and completed a postgraduate year 1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City.
Chris Miller, PharmD, MBA, BCPS, (he/him) is the manager of Pharmacy Compliance and Regulatory for Novant Health. His team has responsibility for all compliance and regulatory efforts for pharmacy spaces throughout the health-system. This includes acute care with TJC, IV rooms with USP, maintenance of policies and procedures, any permits, and licenses, as well as URAC and ACHC readiness for the specialty pharmacies.
Lisa Kumor, PharmD, BCACP, (she/her) is the assistant director, Accreditation and Residency, with Specialty Pharmacy Services at University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System and clinical assistant professor with the University of Illinois Chicago College of Pharmacy. She serves as the residency program director for the postgraduate year-1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program in Specialty Pharmacy. She is an active participant and past chair of the SAGs within the Section of Specialty Pharmacy Practitioners.
