ASHP's Section of Ambulatory Care Practitioners has five Section Advisory Groups (SAG). These advisory groups help you engage with ASHP and colleagues who share the same interests as you.

SAG on Ambulatory Care Pharmacotherapy

Charges

  • Support the development of pharmacist-led chronic disease management strategies in ambulatory settings.
  • Create foundational tools and education to advance confidence and competency for ambulatory practitioners.
  • Advance collaborative, team-based care models that enhance access and improve patient outcomes in ambulatory settings.

SAG on Operations and Practice Leadership

Charges

  • Coordinate strategies and resources that advance leadership development for ambulatory care pharmacists in both formal and informal leadership roles to strengthen ambulatory care practice, expand advocacy efforts, and enhance patient care delivery.
  • Drive operational excellence, compliance, and performance analytics by optimizing workflows, staffing, EHR/informatics, medication access, documentation standards, billing processes, KPIs, and benchmarking.
  • Enable innovative, collaborative practice models across varied payment strategies, leveraging technology, digital and telehealth modalities, population health initiatives, and leadership development. 


 

SAG on Pain Management and Palliative Care

Charge

To serve as member leaders to plan, create, and implement educational programming and develop resources for the Section regarding pain management and palliative care.  SAG may collaborate with ASHP regarding advocacy and policy opportunities related to pain management.

SAG on Training Advancement and Workforce Development

*This group will replace the Educational Steering Committee starting the 2026-2027 appointment cycle. The charges for this group are below.

Charges

  • Develop and coordinate education that advances ambulatory care practice and workforce readiness, including key ambulatory care education (i.e., Pearls and GEMs sessions), pharmacist and technician role development, team-based care, and strategies to address gaps in learner exposure
  • Design and curate advanced training for faculty, preceptors, and residency and clinical leadership to support learner development, scalable ambulatory care services, and innovative training models
  • Collaborate with SAG leadership to align priorities and integrate cross-cutting topics—innovation, health equity, and rural and underserved care—while addressing workforce recruitment, retention, and career sustainability
