September 2025
Dear Pharmacy Educator Rockstars,
It’s my honor—and frankly, my great excitement—to serve as your chair for the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Educators (SPE) this year. I extend a warm welcome to all new members joining us and deep appreciation to those continuing your journey with us. I look forward to building on the strong foundation of the section as we engage in meaningful conversations, productive collaborations, and impactful initiatives over the coming year.
We all know pharmacy education is no small task. As educators and preceptors, your dedication is the cornerstone of developing the next generation of pharmacy professionals. Whether you are mentoring in the classroom, guiding learners in practice, or contributing across both environments, your influence is profound. Your efforts cultivate critical thinking, professionalism, and a deep commitment to patient-centered care in your students, residents, and new practitioners. Together, we continue to raise the bar in pharmacy education and practice.
This year I am fortunate to continue to work with a fantastic executive committee with Jodi Taylor, PharmD, BCCCP, FASHP, stepping in as chair-elect, and for those who know Jodi, you know we are in great hands for the future. She brings sharp insight, collaborative spirit, and probably a color-coded to do list for this upcoming year. I’m already looking forward to the ideas we’ll bring to life together.
We’re also excited to welcome Claire Latiolais, PharmD, MS, as our newest director-at-large. Claire is no stranger to impact, and her energy and ideas have had a huge impact on the section through her work on our section advisory groups (SAGs). I cannot wait to see and hear all the innovative ideas she will bring to the executive committee.
In addition, the all-star returning executive committee lineup consists of:
- Immediate Past Chair: Jennifer Arnoldi, PharmD, BCPS
- Director-at-Large: Dale E. English II, PharmD, BSPharm, RPh, FASHP
- Director-at-Large: Amy Henneman, PharmD, BCACP, BCPS, CDCES
Talk about having the A-team - we're lucky to have them.
And let’s not forget our ASHP Board of Directors liaison, Lisa Gersema, BSPharm, PharmD, MHA, BCPS, CEPL, FASHP, FMSHP. A leader through and through, Lisa brings a wealth of knowledge (and calm under pressure) to everything she does. We’re looking forward to her steady hand and strategic thinking this year.
Behind the scenes—but never behind the curve—is Rebecca Berhanu-Brooks, PharmD, BCPS, our ASHP Director of Member Relations for the SPE. She brings both heart and hustle to the role, and we’re fortunate she tolerates us and continues to steer the section to align with ASHP goals and strategic plan.
Special shout-outs go to Jen Arnoldi for her leadership as chair last year and continued commitment to the section in her role as immediate past chair this year. To Kevin Chamberlin, PharmD, FASCP, your insight and experience brought so much depth and expertise to SPE as we worked to achieve our goals and outcomes. Lastly, Chris Jolowsky, BSPharm, MS, FASHP, FMSHP, our liaison to the ASHP board, who provided insightful guidance that resulted in the section growing and having a greater impact within ASHP. Each of you have left your fingerprints are all over the successes of this section, and we’re grateful.
At ASHP Pharmacy Futures 2025 in Charlotte, our executive committee rolled up its sleeves so we could flex section muscles to make real progress on our strategic plan. Our focus this year continues to be empowering educators and preceptors, supporting well-being and resilience, and reminding the world just how much of a difference we make in patient care.
Of course, none of this happens without YOU—our members and volunteers—especially those working hard in our SAGs. You’re the ones translating big ideas into tangible impact. Thank you.
And speaking of impact… we hope to see you in Las Vegas at the Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition! Be sure to check out these SPE-hosted networking sessions:
- Sunday, Dec. 7: Challenges and Opportunities for Pharmacy Practice Faculty in Professional Practice Settings
- Monday, Dec. 8: Remediation in Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences Rotations (APPE)

Remember Vegas is where the lights are bright, the ideas are big and networking is anything but a gamble, so join the sessions to stay connected and share your thoughts. This is your section and your voice matters. So, whether at the meetings or throughout the year please know we would love to hear from you. Reach out anytime at sections@ashp.org. We're all ears.
Here's to a year of impact, innovation, and some fun along the way.
