To be considered for ASHP-SSHP Recognition, the SSHP must fulfill all criteria for each category below and submit a completed application by June 30 each year. (Note: To maintain ASHP-SSHP Recognition, an application must be submitted annually.)
I. Membership
Hold at least one membership drive during the academic year to recruit members. Membership drive must have the following components:
- The drive must recruit members for ASHP, the ASHP state affiliate organization (if one exists), and the SSHP.
- The drive must include an option for members to opt-in for ASHP communications.
- When obtaining consent, SSHPs must utilize the following "ASHP Communications Opt-In language" with members: I agree to receive marketing and informational emails from ASHP and its partners relating to their products and services. By entering my email address or other personal information, I agree that ASHP and its service providers may collect, use, store, and disclose my information as described in the ASHP Privacy Policy & Policy on Cookies. I understand that I can withdraw my consent and/or change my marketing preferences at any time by contacting ASHP customer relations at either CustServ@ashp.org or (866) 279-0681.
- In the Recognition Program application, SSHPs must acknowledge the following to submit their application: I confirm that the “Opt-In to ASHP Communications” column in both the Member and Officer rosters are accurate. I confirm that the SSHP completing this form used the ASHP Communications Opt-In language when obtaining opt-in consent from Members and Officers. I understand that incorrectly listing a person as having opted in to ASHP communications may cause ASHP to send them unwanted emails or texts, which may violate state and/or federal data privacy laws.
II. Career Development
- Organize and conduct the ASHP Clinical Skills Competition at your school. Your school must also be represented at the national competition during the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting in December. Note: This requirement may be waived if your school does not yet have students in their third professional year. If applicable, please clearly indicate this exception on your application packet.
- Coordinate at least two events featuring speakers representing health-system practice (such as a faculty member or local practitioner). It is recommended that SSHPs collaborate with the ASHP state affiliate organization to identify potential speakers.
- Coordinate at least one informational session on residency training. SSHPs are encouraged to collaborate with the ASHP state affiliate organization in planning and implementing this session, as residency directors and preceptors are often members of the state affiliate organization.
III. Professional Development Project
Coordinate at least one activity to support the advancement of the pharmacy profession. Schools can choose to focus on a professional development initiative of their choice, such as Workforce Well-Being and Resilience or the Practice Advancement Initiative (PAI 2030).
IV. ASHP State Affiliate Involvement
Collaborate with the ASHP state affiliate on at least one (1) SSHP activity (career development activities or professional development project).
