SCSS Network Facilitators

Network Facilitators Leaders 2024-2025

The Section of Clinical Specialists and Scientists have established networking groups to meet the needs of specialty practitioners. Network FacilitatorsLeaders lead contemporary specialty areas for practitioners to discuss clinical or administrative issues.

Charge

Assess emerging issues related to key topics in specialty area and identify, share, and develop resources to enhance the ability of members to meet patient needs. At the Midyear Clinical Meeting, serve as host and facilitator for a session on hot topics related to area of expertise. Serve as a content matter expert for appointed specialty and advise Executive Committee on any issues related that practice area.

Composition

  • All members will be active ASHP members 
  • Appointments will be made on an annual basis 
  • Network Facilitators are to be appointed by the Chair of the Section Executive Committee.
  • All appointed members will serve a one year term with the option to re-apply for multiple years. 
  • Drug Policy and Clinical Leadership, Pediatrics, Emerging Sciences and Emergency Medicine will have leaders for their sessions selected from volunteers whose participation will be solicited from members in the fall who will be attend the Midyear Clinical Meeting.  These groups will also provide the discussion topics for the meeting each spring.

Activities

  • Virtual Meetings 
    • Will attend Meeting Planning Committee Meetings in January-March where they will 
    • Report out on discussions from the Midyear Clinical Meeting
    • Assist with Clinical Pearls generation and ranking
  • Midyear Clinical Meeting: 
    • Host, plan and organize Networking Session at the Midyear Clinical Meeting  
    • Posting on ASHP Connect to promote Networking Session 1-2 weeks prior to the Midyear Clinical Meeting
    • Those with associated Combined Networking/Poster Sessions will work with ASHP staff member on communications and coordination of session.
    • Posting on ASHP Connect a summary of discussions held during the Networking Session

Resource Development and Maintenance

A Network Facilitator may be asked to review and update the Section associated Resource Center web content. Networking Facilitators with a corresponding resource center on the ASHP website will meet on an adhoc basis via to recommend and discuss updates to the associated Resource Center

    • Infectious Diseases: Infectious Diseases Resource in the Clinical Pharmacy Resource Center
    • Neurology and Psychiatry: Neurology and Psychiatry Resource in the Clinical Pharmacy Resource Center
    • Nutrition Support: Nutrition Support Resource in the Clinical Pharmacy Resource Center

Additional Duties

  • Participate in interviews with press representatives on issues in the specialty area when contacted by ASHP.
  • Provide expert commentary or review of policy and position statements from ASHP or other organizations or agencies.
  • Provide suggestions for ASHP educational programming, products, or expert review of same
  • Suggest or participate in the Section's educational programming at the ASHP Midyear Clinical meeting
  • Participate annual Educational Needs Assessment Survey
  • Identify key topics related clinical area and coordinate educational items, projects or manuscript submission to AJHP 
  • Members may be called upon to serve as content matter experts for podcasts or recommend members for podcasts
