Chair (2025-2026)

February 2026

I’m delighted to share key updates on the activities of our Section of Digital and Telehealth Practitioners (SDTP). Over the past several months, the SDTP Executive Committee has engaged in dynamic conversations centered on expanding the resources, education, and support we provide to our members. Many of you joined us at the 2025 Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition, where we sparked new connections through lively networking, participated in impactful educational sessions, and dove into the latest trends in digital health, telehealth, and artificial intelligence. I’m thrilled to share these updates and new opportunities to stay actively involved with the section as we move forward.

SDTP Working Groups

Our SDTP Working Groups bring wonderful energy and real-world expertise to our work. They continue to make meaningful strides in several core areas of our strategic plan with focus on:

  • Evaluating digital health solutions in pharmacy practice to support evidence‑based adoption.
  • Identifying foundational skills for the profession across AI, telehealth, and digital health.
  • Developing resources to optimize and scale telehealth implementation within diverse practice models.
  • Defining the role of pharmacists in digital transformation, ensuring our profession remains at the forefront of care innovation.

These efforts are shaping new tools and learning resources that will be available to members in the coming months. I encourage you to explore the Digital Health and AI Resource Center that is continually updated with new resources developed by our members.

As our educational pipeline continues to expand, be on the lookout for our upcoming spring webinars which will highlight the implementation of ambient AI scribe technologies, showcase digital health use cases, and explore telehealth innovations.

Ready to amplify your impact in patient care? Get involved with SDTP and help shape the future of pharmacy practice empowered by Digital and Telehealth!

  • Volunteer with SDTP: Our volunteers help drive the success of the Section and we are continually seeking members to help advance our work. If you are interested in participating in a working group, contributing to an educational activity, or lending your expertise to a special project, we welcome you to submit your interest.
  • Share an AI Case Study: The ASHP AI in Pharmacy Practice Case Study Library highlights real‑world examples of AI implementation, outcomes, and lessons learned. As health systems continue to explore AI‑enabled solutions, we are actively seeking new case studies. If your organization is leveraging AI in any capacity, we encourage you to submit a case study. Examples of successful case studies and challenges are equally important to the collective learning of our members!
  • Engage with the SDTP Connect Community to ask questions, learn from colleagues, and stay up to date on SDPT activities and opportunities. It’s also a great place to tell us what you would like to see from the Section.
  • Join us at the Pharmacy Futures 2026, taking place June 13-17. This year’s meeting will feature the ASHP Summit on Pharmacy Workforce Transformation in the Age of AI, offering forward-thinking programming exploring how emerging technologies will reshape roles, responsibilities, and workflows across the profession. The Summit Town Hall will result in a set of recommendations designed to help the pharmacy workforce succeed in an AI-enabled future and Summit insights will play an important role in guiding the Section’s work to ensure members are equipped with the tools needed to navigate this evolving landscape.

The achievements of our Section reflect the collective energy, expertise, and vision of our members. Thank you for your continued engagement and commitment to advancing digital health and telehealth within pharmacy practice. I look forward to building on this momentum together in the year ahead.

July 2026

As I conclude my service as Chair of the Section of Digital and Telehealth Practitioners (SDTP), I do so with deep gratitude and genuine pride. Being appointed the inaugural Chair in 2024 was one of the great honors of my professional career, and I am equally grateful for the continued trust placed in me through my election to serve for the 2025–26 term. It has been exciting and humbling to help create this new section at a moment when technology, digital health, and data science are advancing at a pace we have never seen before. I appreciate the dedication, insight, and collaboration of our Executive Committee and the many volunteers who have contributed their time and expertise to advance our work. Your engagement continues to shape the direction and impact of SDTP in meaningful ways.

Recently, the Executive Committee had the opportunity to convene during the ASHP Pharmacy Futures meeting to reflect on our progress and plan for the year ahead. Throughout the past year, we supported planning efforts for the Summit on Pharmacy Workforce Transformation in the Age of AI held at the conference. I want to extend a special thank you to all who participated in the Summit Town Hall, your thoughtful insights and engagement will be invaluable to shaping the summit outcomes and recommendations. As we look ahead, SDTP is eager to contribute to advancing the summit recommendations and supporting the continued integration of AI-enabled technologies into pharmacy practice.

This past year has been marked by a number of impactful educational offerings and resources, below are a few highlights:

Webinars and Podcasts

AJHP Publication

AI Educational series updates

These resources reflect our continued commitment to delivering timely and forward-looking content to support your work. Be on the lookout for new and expanded educational offerings, including a refreshed Telehealth Resource Center and a growing library of AI Case Studies. These resources, along with SDTP updates, will continue to be added to the ASHP Digital Health and AI Resource Center. I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to Addison Ragan for her service as Director-at-Large on the SDTP Executive Committee. As an inaugural member of the committee, Addison has played a foundational role in shaping the section and we are grateful for her dedication.

As I close this chapter as Chair of SDTP, I want to thank you for being part of this journey. It has been a privilege to serve this community and to witness the momentum we are building together. I believe deeply that technology, when thoughtfully designed and responsibly applied, can augment pharmacy practice, restore capacity for the work that only pharmacists can do, and help us better serve our patients, teams, and communities. My hope is that we continue to approach this moment with curiosity, optimism, and leadership as we advance together. I am confident that SDTP will continue to lead and inspire as digital health and AI transform the future of pharmacy practice.
