Executive Committee
The section Executive Committee is a dedicated group responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and initiatives of the section. This committee sets priorities and provides leadership to ensure the section's mission is effectively advanced. Members are involved in decision-making processes, strategic planning, and driving initiatives that enhance member engagement within the section.

Chair (2025-2026)
Molly J. Billstein Leber, PharmD, MBA, BCPS, FASHP
Molly J. Billstein Leber is the Director, Pharmacy Procurement and Business Operations at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her oversight includes drug use policy, formulary management, and pharmaceutical sourcing. This oversight includes budget mitigation, safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, and payment controls. Previously, she practiced as a critical care pharmacist in medical, surgical, and neurosurgical ICUs. Leber received her PharmD degree from the University of Montana and completed a PGY1 residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. Leber has also completed the ASHP Pharmacy Leadership Academy (PLA) and received her Master's of Business Administration from New England College. Leber has been an active member of ASHP for over 20 years. Currently, she serves as a member of the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners (SICP) Advisory Group (SAG on Medication Management and a delegate to the ASHP House of Delegates. Past service includes SICP SAGs on Medication Safety, Small and Rural Hospitals, and Advancing Pharmacy Practice with Technicians, as well as service to the New Practitioners Forum. She was previously the SICP director-at- large. She has been an appointed member to the Council on Pharmacy Practice, Council on Education and Workforce Development, and the ASHP Committee on Nominations. She has also served as a moderator and presenter at multiple Midyear Clinical Meetings. Leber has also supported the development of several ASHP Guidelines and is recognized as a Fellow of ASHP. Leber holds other leadership roles nationally and has served on the board of the Connecticut Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
Immediate Past Chair (2025-2026)
Lucas Schulz, PharmD, BCIDP
Lucas Schulz is a Medical Science Liaison at Cepheid. In this role, he is responsible for research, education, and strategy development for infectious-disease focused, diagnostic tools in the hospital and health-system setting. Preparing Lucas for this role, he previously served as the Infectious Diseases, Solid Organ Transplant, and Experiential Education Clinical Manager and the PGY1 and PGY2-ID Residency Program Director at University of Wisconsin Health. Schulz received his PharmD degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy, completed a PGY1 and PGY2 Critical Care residency, and practiced as a critical care pharmacist in medical, surgical, and neurosurgical intensive care units at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics. He is the author of over 100 peer-reviewed publications and over 100 abstracts.
Lucas has been an active member of ASHP since 2003. He currently serves as the Chair of the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners after completing a three-year role as Director-at-Large for the Section. Previous service to ASHP includes: delegate to the ASHP House of Delegates, member of the ASHP New Practitioners Forum, and moderator and presenter at multiple ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Summer Meetings. Lucas supports the development of ASHP Board Certification in Infectious Diseases as author and reviewer.
Chair Elect (2025-2026)
Elizabeth A. Wade, PharmD, CPPS, FASHP
Elizabeth A. Wade is the system director for medication safety, quality, and compliance at Dartmouth Health. Prior to this, she served as the patient safety officer for Amazon Pharmacy, leading the development of the patient safety program, medication safety officer at Concord Hospital in New Hampshire, serving as the first medication safety officer in the state, and medication safety officer for Adult Med/Surg at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. She completed both PGY1 pharmacy practice and PGY2 medication-use safety residencies at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. She serves on the board of directors for the Patient Access Network Foundation and works closely with the Institute for Safe Medication Practices.
Wade's ASHP involvement includes serving as chair for the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners Section Advisory Group on Medication Safety and as a member for 10 years, New Hampshire delegate on the House of Delegates for 7 years, and member of the Council on Pharmacy Practice for 3 years. She is faculty for the ASHP medication safety, and well-being and resilience certificate programs. She served as president of the New Hampshire state chapter and on the board of directors for 10 years. She was a founding member and president of Northeastern University's student ASHP chapter.
Director-at-Large (2024-2026)
Sandeep Devabhakthuni, PharmD, BCCP
Sandeep Devabhakthuni is a Safety Evaluator in the Division of Pharmacovigilance at the Food and Drug Administration. Previously, he served as the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Associate Professor at University of Maryland School of Pharmacy (UMSOP). He served as an inpatient clinical pharmacist at University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) from 2011-2024. In 2019, he added an ambulatory care component by assisting in the outpatient heart transplant clinic. Previously, he was the Director of Postgraduate Training for University of Maryland Pharmacy Residency and Fellowship programs from 2016-2023. He co-founded the Applied Therapeutics, Research, and Instruction at University of Maryland (ATRIUM) collaborative, which is dedicated to optimizing management of cardiovascular diseases. Devabhakthuni earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and completed his PGY1 pharmacy residency at University of Maryland Medical Center and his PGY2 Cardiology Pharmacy Residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He has received the Preceptor of the Year and Maryland Society of Health-System Pharmacy (MSHP) Pharmacist of the Year awards. Three UMSOP graduating classes recognized him as Teacher of the Year. He served as Director-at-Large and President of MSHP. His service to ASHP includes being the Vice-Chair and Chair for the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners (SICP) Educational Steering Committee (ESC) as part of his six-year tenure. Dr. Devabhakthuni routinely reviews ASHP members curriculum vitae and posters. He has delivered 12 presentations nationally, including the ASHP National Pharmacy Preceptor Conference, Midyear Clinical Meeting, and webinars. Devabhakthuni has published 35 peer-reviewed articles and three book chapters and co-authored 45 national poster presentations.
Director-at-Large (2025-2027)
C. Whitney White, PharmD, BCPS, FALSHP, FASHP
C. Whitney White is an associate professor of pharmacy practice at Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy. She is also a clinical pharmacist practitioner within the Birmingham VA Health Care System. She earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Mississippi College and a Doctor of Pharmacy from Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy. She completed a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Huntsville Hospital. Her career has included practice in both acute and ambulatory care settings, where she has helped to expand the footprint of pharmacy practice by implementing pharmacist-led gout and osteoporosis clinics as well as establishing new rounding services and innovative practice models which involve pharmacy learners.
White has been an active member of ASHP since completing residency and has served in many leadership roles. She is a past chair of the Council on Education and Workforce Development and past chair of the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners (SICP) Educational Steering Committee (ESC). She has been a member of the SICP ESC for many years, helping to create various educational tools and resources for ASHP members. She has also served as a delegate from Alabama to the ASHP House of Delegates for many years and is passionate about advocacy for the pharmacy profession.
Director-at-Large Elect (2025-2026)
Mary Pat Thomas (Bulfin), PharmD, BCPS, CPHQ
Mary Pat Thomas (Bulfin) is a Medication Safety Pharmacist at UVA Health in Charlottesville, Virginia. She earned her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, followed by a PGY2 Medication Use Safety and Policy residency at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Thomas is a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ). Prior to joining UVA Health, she served as a Medication Safety Pharmacist at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus in Cleveland, Ohio. In her current role, Dr. Thomas focuses on quality and process improvement through medication safety event reporting, proactive evaluation and investigation, and precepting learners. She is deeply committed to fostering a culture of safety and continuous learning, and she serves as an ASHP Well-Being Ambassador. She also holds the ASHP Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Professional Certificate. A collaborative leader, Dr. Thomas thrives on building interprofessional partnerships that drive system-level improvements through creativity, positivity, and patient-centered care. Her leadership with ASHP includes serving as the 2023-2024 Chair of the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners (SICP) Educational Steering Committee. Dr. Thomas has contributed to numerous ASHP initiatives, including national conference proposals, podcasts, and webinars.

Rena Sackett, PharmD, BCPS
Director, Member Relations
Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners
Rena Sackett serves as Director, Member Relations at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). In this role, she acts as the liaison for the Section of Inpatient Care Practitioners and leads the development and implementation of programs and initiatives for the Section. Prior to this role, she completed ASHP’s Executive Fellowship in Association Leadership and Management.
She completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2020 and earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy in 2019. She completed an elective rotation in national association management with ASHP and has served in a number of volunteer leadership capacities including as a delegate for the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists and volunteer on the Membership Committee for the Western Chapter of Pennsylvania Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
