November 2018
Dear Colleagues,
Season’s Greetings to you and your families. We are grateful to our many volunteer leaders for your significant contributions and consistent dedication to the Section. Last month we celebrated record-breaking attendance at our inaugural Conference for Pharmacy Leaders at our new location in Dallas. The Conference offered something for everyone – leadership development, staff and leader engagement and resilience, progressive technician role discussions, multiple business of pharmacy topics, presentation of the John W. Webb Lecture Award, SPPM’s Mangers’ Boot Camp, and a special evening tailored for our HSPA residents with past and current ASHP leaders. It was a memorable conference for all, and we are already looking ahead to 2019 planning. (Check out the slides from the programs at: https://leaders.ashp.org/Education-and-Posters)
The Section’s Advisory Groups (SAG) and Educational Steering Committee Chairs and Vice Chairs met with our Executive Committee for our annual November Section leadership call to review their objectives and tactics for the year. These impressive groups are absolutely committed to our mission as they plan for webinars, ASHP meeting programs, tools, and networking events to serve our members.
Next month, I’m looking forward to seeing many of you at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting. The Section’s Executive Committee will be meeting in Anaheim to review and revise the Section’s Mission, Vision and Strategic Plan. Our upcoming strategy sessions will test our Section’s structural foundation, our Mission & Vision, and review our critical areas and objectives. Our overall aim is to publish an updated strategic plan by June 2019 that will exceed our members’ expectations in supporting current and futuristic practice models and enhanced leadership development. We are collecting direct feedback from our SAGs, Educational Steering Committee, and past Section Executive Committee leaders to inform our work. If you have advice on how we can continue to improve the Section experience and resources, please contact me at sections@ashp.org. We welcome all ideas!
